This is a short little 3 mile loop over mostly paved terrain. For the amount of effort, you are rewarded with a wonderful waterfall with plenty of space to sit and enjoy a snack at the base of the falls. It’s length and ease are likely to have this trail crowded for most of the day.
Laurel Falls Trail Quick Facts
Trailhead – From the Sugarlands Visitor Center follow Fighting Creek Gap Road 3.5 for the parking lot to the trailhead
Trail Stats
Length – 3.12 miles
Difficulty – Moderate
Elevation Gain – 472 feet
Route Type – Out and back
The trail is somewhat surprising because it looks to be a trailhead like any other in the park. However, the path is 4 foot wide asphalt all the way to the falls. I’m not sure if it qualifies as accessible, but a person could certainly push a wheelchair to the top. If you are so inclined, once you get to the falls, the trail continues on in a more traditional way. It will take you all the way to Little Mountain where it joins with several other trails.
